‘I’m not a scientist. But I know what I like.’
(Homer Simpson)
I like listening to people. I also like helping people to speak freely (often more difficult than it sounds!) and seeing what turns up. When this happens, we might start noticing strange and interesting connections, deadlocks and preoccupations that we weren’t previously aware of.
I offer attentive, lively conversation for people who are feeling stuck, trying to work something out, or curious about themselves and what they’re up to. We might explore your relationships, creative projects, work, dreams, history, or whatever else comes to mind.
We’ll think carefully about what turns up in our conversation, and imaginatively about what you might do with it.
My approach
My approach is loosely informed by psychoanalysis, but is conversational and practically minded. I like to work with a sense of humour where possible.
I’m particularly happy to work with people who haven’t found conventional therapy or coaching to be a good fit (maybe because you found them too passive or directive).
Practicalities
Conversations are 50 mins, online, usually weekly. Some people come for a few sessions, others prefer to talk long-term.
The first conversation (30 mins) is free. The standard rate for further sessions is £60.
If you’re interested but this is too expensive, please contact me anyway.
Testimonials
“Talking to Simon allowed me to loosen up, and work out which bits of my life were worth taking more (and less!) seriously. ” – F. G.
“I worked with Simon for a few months. I’d tried different kinds of therapy, but this felt more like a relaxed, intelligent conversation with something at stake. Simon was great at really paying attention to bits of my experience I was skipping over.” – I. R.
